One of the things that has always been an eye-sore on this sight was the primitive blog that we were using before. Well, today we’ve corrected that by upgrading our blog to an entirely different wordpress-based blog.
Please excuse the mess at the moment as we still need to arrange the content and everything to fit this new blog module, but in the end, I think visitors to SynergyInstituteOnline.com will have a better experience.

March 5, 2006 (Escondido, Ca.) Management consultant, negotiator, and conflict trainer, Tristan Loo, released his new book, Street Negotiation, in electronic version on the web (www.acrsonline.com/index.php) on March 5th, 2006.
Street Negotiation is a two-part book–the first part discusses critical interpersonal skills necessary for any person who deals with other people. The second half of the book is a step-by-step guide on how to conduct a negotiation whether it be of a business or personal nature.
Mr. Loo wrote a book using his experiences as a street cop and his Zen and martial art background to tackle the often business-specific topic of negotiation and made it not only applicable to the general public, but also palatable for the masses.
“I wrote Street Negotiation with the everyday guy or gal in mind. We all negotiate on a daily basis, whether it be in an office, or at home, or on the street. The ability to communicate what we want is one of the most critical skills that we can learn as social beings, yet its often the most misunderstood and mispracticed skill that we use. Street Negotiation aims on teaching people how to reach agreements together.”
The hard copy version of Street Negotiation will be available in May, 2006.

Former police officer launches new mediation service to help community members deal with disputes without waging war on each other.
Escondido, CA (PRWEB) October 18, 2005 — As a former police officer, Tristan Loo, knew that there had to be a better way to address local community conflict. Too often did he have to respond to the same disputants time-after-time without any recourse but to explain to them that it was a civil matter and that they would have to take it up in court. Loo felt frustrated that angry individuals were using the police as their personal harassment tool, taking valuable service time away from higher-priority calls for police service.
Everyone is entitled to public safety services. There is no argument there. It?s when people abuse that privilege and take those services away from the people who really need it. That?s where I have a problem.
Through his research and experience, Loo realized that conflict could not be fully resolved without addressing the inner emotions and needs that are driving the conflict to begin with. Traditional litigation may address the problem, but rarely does it address the underlying needs behind that problem. The answer to this was mediation?the process by which two disputing parties discuss their situation with a neutral third-party who doesn?t make the decisions for them, but rather helps both parties reach a solution for themselves. Surprisingly, Loo only found a few centers that offered mediation services to the community. Admittedly, even as a police officer, Loo was unaware that community mediation existed. Loo set out on a mission to spread the word about the power of mediation, and as a result, Alternative Conflict Resolution Services was born.
?As founder of Alternative Conflict Resolution Services, it?s my goal to help people win without fighting by empowering them with the ability to handle their own conflicts responsibility with the aid of a neutral third-party mediator. Too often in a conflict we become locked into a battle over right versus wrong; demand versus demand; or winner versus loser and the main objective is lost in the flurry of emotion. My job is separate the people from the problem so that they can focus on the solution.?
Loo, a former champion martial arts fighter, likens conflict to that of martial arts principles. ?Force against force relies solely on strength and accomplishes very little. Now, if you step to their side and avoid their attack, then not only do you save yourself from injury, but now you also have their energy to use against the real enemy?the problem that you both are faced with.?

Several months ago, SynergyInstituteOnline.com launched a new module called the “Forms Bank,” which was a unique resource full of proprietary forms created especially for the Synergy Institute for use in our workshops and coaching practice and made available for free to our visitors. The Forms Bank was a great success and it attracted tens of thousands of visitors in only a matter of a week.
People have been asking if the forms can be better organized, so last week, SynergyInstituteOnline.com launched an entirely new, fully upgraded, version of the personal development forms bank with the ability to organize each form according to a specific category, almost identical to what we have designed for our article library. I feel that this organization method will make it very easy for people to find the forms that they need.
Although, not currently active, in approximately one week, SynergyInstituteOnline.com will be adding a new RSS feed to the personal development forms bank so that anyone who subscribes to that RSS feed will know when we release new personal development forms and tools for life coaching.
SynergyInstituteOnline.com also has a new section called “Media” which will house media, speaker and coaching information related to myself.
Please check out all that SynergyInstiuteOnline.com has to offer.
Warmest Regards,
Tristan
I'm happy to say that the first of several booklets that I will be releasing this year is almost complete. The booklet that I am working on right now is called, Living Your Purpose and it will be a 50 page, information-packed book on how to create and follow your major definite purpose in life.
I chose to write this book first because your life purpose is the foundation from which all your goals and daily actions spawn from. Your life purpose is the reason you get up and go do the things that you do every day and if you're not happy with what you are doing, then it's best to start at square one and re-evaluate and even re-create your life purpose statement. That's what this booklet will do.
Living Your Purpose will be available Mid-March at SynergyInstituteOnline.com and through Amazon.com and most major online retailers.

The main difference that I’ve seen between highly successful people and the not-so-successful is that the highly successful people out there value their time as though it were money. They don’t waste their time and if they are going to spend time doing something, they weigh the costs versus the rewards of doing it.
Unsuccessful people, on the other hand, spend their time carelessly as if they were given a bunch of free poker chips at a Vegas casino. They spend all their time on low value activities and then after a while, they finally realize that they have nothing meaningful to show in their lives at all because they squandered their time.

The Clock of Life
Is wound but once
And no man has the power
To tell just when the hands will stop.
At late, or early hour.
NOW is the only time you own.
Live, love and toil with a will.
Place no faith in tomorrow
He recently interviewed me for his website on who I am, my background, the two main reasons why people don’t turn dreams into reality, as well as my own personal goals for 2008.
Here is an except from the interview:
What do you consider to be the biggest obstacles people face that keep them from realizing their hopes and dreams?
The top two obstacles that probably hold 90% of people back from their dreams in life are: fear and procrastination. Most people have dreams of what they want in life, but many of those people don’t realize that in order to get what they want; they have to make the necessary changes in their life right now in order to chart a new path towards that dream.
Most people are not willing to make those changes because they fear change and, according to Freudian psychoanalysis, fear is interpreted by the mind as a source of pain and we as human beings tend to avoid anything that causes us pain in our lives. So, as a result, most people are more willing to remain in their comfort box instead of taking a leap of faith to get the life that they truly deserve for themselves.
Procrastination is the second killer of dreams. Procrastination is the opposite of action. It’s a lack of action and surprisingly enough, it’s dysfunctionally married to the word “dream.” Procrastination is what keeps a dream only a dream it’s what holds that dream back from ever becoming something real. It’s not enough that we know what we want in life. That’s just half of it. The other half involves actually getting off your butt and doing what we have to do to get what we want, or in other words, taking action!
Procrastinators are what I refer to as “someday people.” They go through life putting their next actions and goals off for someday in the future. Eventually, their “somedays” turn into regrets when the opportunity has passed and their dreams are no longer realistic. Then you hear the bitter first words, “If I had only…” When this happens, these people are no longer living because their life no longer contains passion or challenge or adventure.
The sad fact of it is that when we no longer have a compelling reason to live, we are basically just waiting to die. Don’t be a “someday person.” Be a “do it now” person instead.
